Selling and buying are two sides of the same process, and both work toward a shared goal. One side wants to acquire, the other to provide. Each side does better when the other succeeds.

⏳ Early Engagement: Introduce your selling journey (opens in a new tab) early. It makes the process transparent, builds trust and sets clear expectations. When your selling process matches the client's buying journey (opens in a new tab), you see needs coming and can clear roadblocks in advance.

🗺️ Stakeholder Mapping: Don't wait for issues to arise. Guide your clients by identifying key stakeholders, like legal, IT or security, early in the process. That prevents delays and keeps the transaction on track.

🧭 Guiding the Client: Selling might be routine for you, but buying is often a rare event for your client. Guide them with your experience and share best practices that make the process easier.

🔄 Flexibility and Mutual Value: Buying journeys are rarely linear. Sellers must adapt to the client's pace and needs. Aim for an outcome where both parties see real value. That is the basis of a long-term relationship.

🛤️ Visualization: A picture of the selling and buying journey helps a lot. It shows the stages, activities and stakeholders at a glance. Show it early in the process. Both sides then share the same expectations, plan their resources and trust each other more.

Both sides want a successful transaction. Sellers who keep that in mind can work through the differences between the two journeys, and everyone involved benefits.
